Curatorial Intensive Indonesia (ICI) 2024
Curatorial Intensive Indonesia 2024 aims to support the art ecosystem. Through a 9-day immersion process in Yogyakarta & Bali, it enriches 14 young curators, with 4 of them hailing from Indonesia. The program is currently running with the intention of strengthening a sustainable art ecosystem and embracing social responsibility.
Welcome to the new curator participants: Sarah Abdu Bushra (Ethiopia), Ariana Chaivaranon (Thailand), Allan Yuji de Torres (Philippines), Van Do (Vietnam), Yu Lun ‘Fiona’ Hsu (Taiwan), Diana Htwe (Myanmar), Pychita Julinanda (Indonesia), Vishal Kumaraswamy (India), Erika Mei Chua Holum (United States), Sasha Shestakova (Germany), Ibrahim Soetomo (Indonesia), Ni Putu Sridiniari (Indonesia), Mark Teh (Malaysia), and Dito Yuwono (Indonesia).
Seminars, site visits, and roundtable discussions will be led by a group of professionals that includes Riksa Afiaty (Head of Program, Indonesian Visual Art Archive and Curatorial Intensive alum, Auckland 2019), Zoe Butt (Curator and Founder, in-tangible institute), Khanyisile Mbongwa (curator, sociologist, Sangoma, and curator of the 2023 Liverpool Biennial), Renaud Proch (Executive and Artistic Director, ICI), Grace Samboh (independent curator, writer, researcher, and Curatorial Intensive alum, Tokyo 2013), and Lê Thuận Uyên (Artistic Director, The Outpost).
The 7th program in Asia, following Mumbai, Beijing, Tokyo, Manila, & Bangkok, is a collaborative project between Taut Seni and Independent Curators International (NYC). Supported by the Directorate of Cultural Human Resource and Cultural Institutions Empowerment, Directorate General of Culture, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (MoECRT), EPSON and Bali Purnati.
